The Scottish Head and Neck Conference, founded by Mr. Jai Manick (Consultant ENT Surgeon) is a distinguished non-profit educational event dedicated to advancing head and neck education and addressing contemporary issues in head and neck care.
Its primary objective is to equip stakeholders with essential information to enhance surgical care and advance clinical practices worldwide.
The conference has garnered notable success, attracting over 7,000 delegates in previous years and significantly impacting the global surgical community. Renowned for its comprehensive programs utilising didactic lectures and case-based panel discussions, alongside expert-led sessions, the event serves as a vital platform for knowledge exchange and professional development in head and neck surgery. This conference is accredited Royal college of surgeons, Edinburgh.
About
Conference Chair: Jai Manick
Jai Manick (Jaiganesh Manickavasagam) is a Consultant Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgeon at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Dundee Medical School. He is the lead head, neck, and thyroid surgeon within his ENT department, with clinical interests in laser surgery alongside thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He plays a pivotal role in the North of Scotland Head and Neck Cancer Network.
Mr. Manick’s clinical practice encompasses general ENT, as well as benign and malignant diseases of the head and neck, including conditions affecting the mouth, throat, voice box, neck, salivary glands, thyroid gland, rhinology (nose), and otology (ear). He is among the few surgeons in the United Kingdom with expertise in transoral robotic surgery and laser microsurgery for head and neck cancers.
Mr. Manick completed his specialist training in ENT in South Yorkshire, followed by a fellowship in head and neck cancer and robotic surgery at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle.
He has initiated multiple educational endeavours, including founding the Dundee FRCS ENT Course (www.frcsentvivacourse.co.uk), co-organising the Advanced ENT Laser Course (www.lasercoursedundee.co.uk), and serving as the organising chair for the International Scottish Head and Neck Conference (www.headandneckconference.co.uk). Additionally, Mr. Manick is the Joint Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and Malaysian FRCS Course Co-Convenor.
A strong proponent of research, Mr. Manick has published numerous scientific articles and developed several new surgical techniques and devices. He has delivered keynote lectures at national and international levels. As the Principal Investigator for various research studies related to ENT, his research portfolio primarily focuses on projects concerning the head and neck, rhinology, and the skull base. He is affiliated with ENTUK, the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, the Royal Society of Medicine, and the British Society of Endocrinologists.
