Venue: Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification / Surgical Skills facilities, University of Dundee & Ninewells Hospital
Format: one day intensive hands-on course
Target: ST5–8 trainees, fellows and consultants in ENT/Head & Neck, OMFS and Plastic Surgery (2 delegates per specimen)
 
08:00–08:30 — Registration & coffee

 08:30–09:00 — Welcome/Principles of head and neck reconstruction

09:00–11:00

Station 1 — Radial Forearm Free Flap (30 minutes Demonstration + hands-on harvest)

11:00–13:00

Station 2 — Anterolateral Thigh Free Flap (30 minutes Demonstration + hands-on harvest)

13:00-13:30. Coffee

13:30-14:15 

Station 3 — Fibula Osteocutaneous Free Flap (demonstration &Plating)

14:15-15:00. Lunch &Company Symposium 

 

15:00-16:30

Station 3 — Fibula Osteocutaneous Free Flap (Hands on Practice)

16:30-17:30

Station 4— Supraclavicular Flap& Pectolaris Flap (Demo& Hands on Practice)

 

Station 5— All day practice Micro (micro instruments, Sutures, artificial vessels, venous couplers, implantable doppler)

Practice all day with faculty to improve micro skills

Parking

Car parking is available at a number of small car parks situated around the City Campus. Payment for car parking is made through the Ring-Go application, which can be downloaded online. Please use the School Visitor code 62650. This allows for you park for just £5 per day for the whole day. Ticketing is otherwise quite aggressive around the City Campus and we wish to avoid this happening to yourselves.

✈️ Arriving via Edinburgh Airport (Recommended)

Edinburgh Airport (EDI) is the most convenient international gateway for travel to Dundee, offering frequent flight connections and direct transport links.

By Direct Bus (Most Convenient)
  • Xplore Dundee “Fly” Coach: A direct, non-stop service from Edinburgh Airport (Bus stop E) to Dundee. (preferred-1min walk)

    • Time: ~80 minutes. (non stops, no changes)

    • Frequency: 24-hour service, every 90 minutes.The service departs at 45 minutes past each hour.

    • Fare: £15–£20. Ticket can be purchased with driver.

    • Book Xplore Dundee

  • Ember Coach: Eco-friendly electric coaches departing from Bus stop E (1 min walk).

    • Time: 90–120 minutes.(5 stops, no changes)

    • Fare: £8–£18 (Book in advance for best rates, website ticket purchase only).

    • Book Ember (preferred)

  • FlixBus: Regional coach service with competitive pricing. Bus starts from Ingliston Park & Ride, EH28 8LS, need to take a tram or bus from terminal (3 to 5 mins)

By Train
  • To the Station: Take the Edinburgh Tram from the airport to Edinburgh Gateway or Edinburgh Waverley (~£7).

  • To Dundee: Direct trains run regularly to Dundee.

  • Time: ~1 hour 20 minutes.

  • Fare: £15–£35.

✈️ Arriving via Glasgow Airport

Glasgow Airport (GLA) is another major international hub located approximately 90 minutes from Dundee.

By Train
  1. Take the Airport Express Bus (500) to Glasgow Queen Street Station.

  2. Board a direct train to Dundee.

    • Total Time: ~2 hours.

    • Total Fare: £25–£45.

By Bus
  1. Take the airport bus to Buchanan Street Bus Station.

  2. Take a national coach (Citylink or Megabus) to Dundee.

    • Total Fare: £10–£25.

✈️ Direct Flights to Dundee Airport

Dundee has its own regional airport (DND) located just 5 minutes from the city center.

  • Loganair operates direct flights from London.

  • Note: Availability is seasonal. For more international options, Edinburgh Airport is recommended.

🚆 Rail Connections

Dundee Railway Station is located in the heart of the city, directly across from the V&A Dundee. It offers direct links to:

  • Scotland: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen.

  • England: London (LNER), Newcastle, York, Manchester.
